Teishin online courses helped me to understand the theories behind TCM which are essential in applying Teishin Therapy. Teishin courses are easy to comprehend and easy to apply in you practice – I ought to know, I bought the whole curriculum! It is important to have all course curriculum in order to gain a complete understanding of the system of Teishin therapy taught through the Teishin Institute and Barefoot Medicine Training.

The course provides the essentials needed for both clinical and business application in establishing a successful practice. Christian Nix emphasizes the concepts and protocols necessary to practice TCM in the 21st century. I highly recommend taking this course and implementing the material into your present practice.

I am grateful to have discovered Barefoot Medicine Training. The courses offered for TCM practitioners are a valuable asset that you will not find anywhere else. Going through the course material has revived my passion for this medicine. The course material has given me new confidence in communicating with Western medical professionals about how this medicine works by itself and how it can work in combination with Western medicine as well. I am looking forward to strengthening my knowledge base with the courses offered through Barefoot Medicine Training.

Hospital Based Acupuncture Training has changed my practice utterly.

For the past 9 years I’ve had a successful private practice and a very satisfying hospital practice that centered on breast cancer survivors. Professionally speaking, not much was missing. After completing HBA Training however, I found myself able to negotiate and implement my long-desired dream of a community-style acupuncture clinic at Mercy Hospital.

Patient response has been tremendous and the hospital administration couldn’t be happier. Not only that, I realized that my private practice also needed to change to reflect my new mind-set and skills. I can’t imagine going back to doing hour-long treatments that cater mostly to the privileged class.

In concrete terms, HBA Training and Christian’s mentoring have helped me to think and communicate with compelling clarity about my profession, hone my clinical skills to razor-sharpness, and navigate with a clinical model that effectively and sustainably serves a wider and more diverse patient base than I previously thought possible.

In short, with the skills and insight that I’ve gained through this curriculum and the accompanying hands-on training, I feel it’s possible to have it all – personal success and the added satisfaction of following a model that is likely to have a significant impact not only on the practice of Chinese medicine in the West, but also create positive change for our healthcare system as a whole.

"It was a pleasure, after 7 years of practice, to play the part of student again. Christian was able to distill and clarify some of the finer, yet basic points of TCM, in a way that “lit up” my understanding. The rich wisdom of our medicine became clear in areas I didn’t even realize were not so clear. The almost daily training in Qi Gong provided a much needed dose of self-nourishment that had been missing from my life and from my practice. I re-learned the significance of the adage, “Physician, Health Thyself” . . . Although, this may sound funny for someone who has been in practice as long as I have, I felt (and still feel) able to bask in the joy of the medicine again, partly because of Christian’s passion for it, but also because of his patience and kindness.I did not feel threatened or put off by being corrected on some point location or other, or by being questioned about the functions of the Spleen. Instead, I was happy to know that I knew quite a bit, and was thrilled to be able to fill in some missing pieces. Christian demands clarity and precision. He has obviously worked hard to build relationships of trust and respect with the staff, doctors and patients at the hospital in Santiago de Atitlan, and I felt it was privilege to be invited to share in that. We had a great time. The hospital staff was accommodating and respectful, the patients (mostly Mayan) were beautiful and open-hearted, and the experience itself was priceless. Now that I am back in my own world, my patients have benefited from my clarity, focus, improved needle technique, and self-awareness."

"My experience in Guatemala was incredible.  As a practitioner of TCM, this internship gave me the opportunity to look into the true nature of how traditional medicine works. Interning at the hospital was challenging in ways I could never imagine, and stretched my comprehension, knowledge, foundation and practice of Acupuncture and TCM Diagnosis. Class and clinic were amazing, but the most influential component that has impacted my current and future practice that this internship gave me was the opportunity to look at myself to be able to get out of the way of myself."

“Just wanted to say that I really enjoyed my time at your training. I learned a lot and it reinforced quite a few things. Seeing how effortlessness herbs were incorporated into the treatment protocol got me on the "herb wagon" again, as I had pushed it aside for the last two semesters. I found that I got more confident in my needling; depth, insertion and manipulation’ wise. I've basically overhauled my technique since I've been back. It was also great to be reminded that at times we can just "let the needles do the talking" and a lengthy intake in not always what is called for. Also the qigong classes were very useful, especially the explanations of how certain postures affected different areas of the body and what patient population would benefit from them.”

“My experience in Guatemala was nothing short of magical. Christian was a great host, sharing the best of his world with us. Our time at the hospital in the community clinic was rich with first hand experience. Christian demonstrated how fast, effective and confident we can be treating a large number of patients in a short period of time. We learned how to conduct short and thorough intakes, strong needling techniques, and how to make a connection with our patients. He is very skilled at what he does, keeping his work very much within the scope of what is considered internationally accepted TCM standards. I appreciated his insistence upon professionalism. It became clear that in this way, we can see predictable results. Barefoot Medicine is a very accessible and replicable approach in any practice and I now feel confident that I can implement those principles in my practice.”

“As a massage therapist, I found the Teishin Ear Therapy to be an incredible support to my practice. One of the techniques I use is foot reflexology, so it was an easy transition to the ear, and not taxing on the hands at all. The presentation of the material was easily understood; so easy, in fact, that I was utilizing Teishin on my clientele prior to the completion of the class with great success.”

“The Barefoot Medicine model is an excellent approach to preventive care as well as management of chronic disease. We hope to use it to train our local participants in how to care for elders and how to avoid more serious complications of common disease. By offering people simple and easily applied techniques to alleviate pain, stress and other problems, we are helping our population avoid the more serious diseases that require more expensive and elaborate interventions. I've worked with the techniques and practices I learned to treat chronic pain and stress for my father and for other friends with serious issues in this area.”

“I have introduced my clientele to the Teishin Ear Therapy as a completion to their therapeutic massage session. The results are just incredible. What I've witnessed, and what they have experienced is beyond any single technique I have used to date. I'm also generating new clients by making myself available to walk-in demos. The looks on their faces are of disbelief after being in pain, having a headache, etc. and then having instantaneous relief.”

“Christian's seminar brought our medicine into startling focus. Within hours, my diagnosis of the most critical TCM patterns became faster and more reliable. A much needed guide through the bewildering profundity of our medicine, Christian's methodical process is rooted in both experience and impeccable scholarship.”

“Upon arriving to Guatemala, within myself I had an agenda of what I was coming here for - To work as a Barefoot Doctor in the area of my expertise Auriculotherapy/Massage Therapy. The moment I arrived at San Marcos, all the mental ideas were gone. I was faced with the Beauty of Nature starring right at me. I allowed myself submerge with the experiences as they came and left. I took in every moment as my last breath. I observe carefully the people, women and children specially. I wanted to know what they where feeling and thinking. I came to realize many of us - live in our own world and forget there is a huge universe out of our little one. I felt one little ant faced with the BIG mountain I came to walk once, twice a day. Being in the presence of people with health issues affecting their lives each and every day gives an important turning point in the purpose and meaning of why we are here. Our mission to service others who are in need. Guatemala left a huge impression in my life and just confirm my true commitment as a person of service. I would love to return to Guatemala in the near future. I met beautiful people, ate fresh foods , and just fell in love with the tranquility the rain forest gives your heart at waking up every morning and greeting it with a smile. I applaud everyone who made Guatemala there home and opened there doors to service. Thank you Christian Nix for opening your doors to your home and giving us the opportunity to explore the nature and beauty of what a Barefoot Doctor can do for me and humanity.”

“I had a great experience at Calacirya Foundation. I spent a summer there, and it taught me so much about non-profit work and the realities of the developing world. Christian and Emily are good people to work and live with - they're informed and very helpful. Christian's individualized teaching style makes it easy to get excited about your work. I learned a lot at Calacirya, about myself and about social justice. And I made some wonderful friends in the process. San Marcos is an interesting little town, and the lake and the mountains are absolutely gorgeous. I recommend this program to everybody looking for a quality abroad experience.”

“The hospital staff were delightful and the people who came to see us were open, appreciative, and amazing. I gained hands-on experience in 3 months that took me a year to gain in school. I definitely use much of the hands-on training and information gained from classes in my clinical practice to this day.”
